Claude Code commands and shortcuts
A reference table of Claude Code's slash commands and keyboard shortcuts with a plain explanation of what each one does and when you would reach for it. Written for People teams rather than engineers, so it says what a command is for rather than what it technically invokes.
Getting your bearings
| /help | Lists the commands available in your install. This is the one to trust over any cheat sheet, including this one, because it reflects your actual version. |
|---|---|
| /clear | Starts a fresh conversation. Use it when you switch to an unrelated task. A long thread about something else makes answers worse, not better. |
| /config | Opens settings: theme, model, and the behaviour toggles. Most things people want to change live here rather than in a file. |
Choosing how it works
| /model | Switches which Claude model you are talking to. Heavier models are slower and better at hard reasoning; lighter ones are quicker for mechanical edits. |
|---|---|
| /mcp | Manages connections to outside services. This is how Claude reaches your Google Drive, Notion or Slack rather than working only on local files. |
Working on a repo
| /code-review | Reviews the changes you have made, before you commit them. Useful even on small builds. It catches the thing you were about to ship at 11pm. |
|---|---|
| /init | Writes a CLAUDE.md describing the project, so future sessions start with context instead of rediscovering the codebase every time. |
The repo

Questions
Do I need to memorise these?
No. /help lists everything, and most work happens in plain conversation rather than through commands. The list is here so the commands stop looking like a foreign language.
Why do some commands not exist in my install?
Some are provided by skills or plugins rather than by Claude Code itself, so they appear only if the thing that provides them is installed. If a command here is missing, that is the usual reason.
